Pennsylvania will require labels on AI-generated ads
Governor Josh Shapiro signed Pennsylvania's AI Deceptive Advertising Act, requiring labels on ads that were significantly modified or generated by AI, in the same format as the ad itself. The rule applies to ads made anywhere if they air in Pennsylvania, but leaves loopholes: "significantly modified" and "evidently fictional" are undefined, and parody and satire are exempt.
- Labels required for AI-generated or modified images, video, audio and text
- Applies to ads created outside the state if they air in Pennsylvania
- Law does not define "significantly modified" or "evidently fictional"
- Parody, satire and criticism are exempt from disclosure
