Go 1.27 ships a standard uuid package

Go 1.27, released on 2026-08-19, adds a standard uuid package based on RFC 9562 with v4 and v7 generation, parsing and comparison. It replaces github.com/google/uuid but lacks v1/v3/v5/v6 constructors, Version() and Time() methods, and a NullUUID type.

NewV7 no longer returns an error; Nil and Max are now functions
No NullUUID, Version() or Time() methods; they must be written manually
database/sql converts uuid.UUID to and from strings natively
