Ethereum delays Glamsterdam after 13 contracts flagged over gas change
ChainSecurity said on October 22 it found 13 mainnet contracts whose failure handling breaks under the EIP-8037 gas-accounting change planned for the Glamsterdam hard fork. Ethereum core developers cancelled the final Hoodi testnet rehearsal the same day and left the December mainnet schedule without a replacement date.
- EIP-8037 adds a separate state-gas reservoir not subject to the EIP-150 63/64 cap
- Writing a new storage slot costs 12,100 execution gas plus 97,920 reservoir gas
- Hoodi activation was set for October 26, epoch 132,352
- Besu 26.10.1 and Lodestar v1.50.1 unschedule it, but older nodes will still activate
