Tiny 3D-printed color routers could boost low-light sensor sensitivity
Researchers have developed tiny 3D-printed color routers that replace Bayer filters and direct light to the sensor with less loss. A standard Bayer array transmits only about a third of incoming light, causing more noise, longer exposures and motion blur in dim conditions.
- Bayer filter array transmits only about a third of incoming light
- 3D-printed routers split light into R, G and B with lower losses
- Approach promises less noisy images in low light
