Diamond laser sensor hits 100% optical contrast in magnetic readout
Researchers at Fraunhofer IAF built a laser-enhanced quantum magnetometer on diamond that improves the sensitivity-to-dynamic-range ratio by up to 590 times versus state-of-the-art approaches. The result relies on the first demonstration of 100% optical contrast with strong laser readout and was published in Nature Communications.
- Sensitivity-to-dynamic-range ratio improved by up to 590x
- First demonstration of 100% optical contrast with laser readout
- Method is laser threshold magnetometry on diamond
- Targets medical diagnostics, navigation and resource exploration
