OpenAI donates Open Responses LLM API spec to Agentic AI Foundation

OpenAI has donated its Open Responses API specification to the open source Agentic AI Foundation, part of the Linux Foundation. The spec standardizes core LLM primitives such as messages, tool calls and function calling so developers can switch between providers with fewer custom integrations. AWS, Databricks, Hugging Face, Nvidia, Ollama, Red Hat and Vercel already support it, while Anthropic and Google still rely on their own APIs.
