Study: Continuous Glucose Monitors Help Type 2 Diabetics Without Insulin
The CONNECT trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that adults with type 2 diabetes not using insulin had better glucose control with Dexcom G7 continuous monitors than with routine care. At 26 weeks, HbA1c was 0.9 points lower and time in the 70–180 mg/dL range was 21 points higher.
- The trial enrolled 283 adults with HbA1c of at least 7.5%
- HbA1c difference at 26 weeks was 0.9 points favoring monitoring
- Time in target range was 21 points higher, about five extra hours a day
- No severe hypoglycemia events occurred in either group
