Pirelli Cyber Tire test: 5.7 meters shorter stopping distance
Evo tested Pirelli's sensor-equipped Cyber Tires, which carry Bluetooth sensors measuring pressure, temperature, grip and wear. In braking from 68 mph to zero, they stopped 5.7 meters sooner than conventional tires and improved wet handling.
- A starfish-shaped sensor slightly larger than an AirTag sits inside each tire
- Stopping distance from 68 mph was 5.7 meters shorter than with standard tires
- An algorithm adjusts ABS, ESP and traction control thresholds in real time
- The tires are already fitted to Aston Martin, BMW, McLaren and Pagani Utopia Roadster
