Solvent-free process recovers pure raw materials from acrylic glass
Researchers have developed a simplified recycling process that recovers pure raw materials from acrylic glass, also known as Plexiglas, without using solvents. The method could cut the amount of acrylic waste that ends up discarded despite the polymer being well suited to recycling.
- The process recovers pure monomers from acrylic glass without solvents
- Acrylic is used in windows, car taillights and furniture
- Much acrylic waste is still not recycled
