NPCI could not assign 10.65B UPI transactions to a state in September 2026

In September 2026, 10.65 billion UPI transactions fell into the Unclassified category — 44% of the 24.07 billion reported nationally. Maharashtra led classified states with 2.36 billion transactions worth Rs 2.73 lakh crore.

• Unclassified volume: 10.65B, down from 10.88B in August
• Unclassified share rose from 13% in April 2023 to 44%
• Maharashtra: 2.36B transactions worth Rs 2.73 lakh crore
• Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh: about 1.25B transactions each
