Google Willow Cuts Magic-State Errors 40-Fold
Google Quantum AI said its Willow processor demonstrated "magic state cultivation," reducing preparation errors about 40-fold versus uncultivated states. The experiment reached roughly 99.99% magic-state fidelity while retaining only 8% of preparation attempts. The research was published in Science.
- Magic-state preparation errors cut about 40-fold
- Magic-state fidelity reached roughly 99.99%
- Only 8% of preparation attempts were retained
- Magic-state prep could consume up to 95% of a quantum computer's capacity
