Google claims verifiable quantum advantage on 105-qubit Willow chip
Google Quantum AI published peer-reviewed benchmarks showing quantum advantage on its 105-qubit Willow processor. A ground-state simulation of the FeMoco catalyst took 282 seconds, a workload estimated to need about 4,200 years on the Frontier exascale supercomputer. Two-qubit gate fidelity reaches 99.84%, single-qubit error is 0.038%.
- 105 superconducting transmon qubits operate at 10.4 mK
- Two-qubit CZ gate fidelity is 99.84%; single-qubit error 0.038%
- FeMoco simulation across 54 orbitals finished in 4 minutes 42 seconds
- Classical Frontier would need roughly 4,200 years for the same task
