Google Messages may add map layer switcher to live location sharing

Google is testing a layer switcher for in-app live location previews in Google Messages. Users would toggle between Default, Satellite and Terrain map types plus a real-time traffic overlay, keeping location sharing self-contained in the chat.

• Location previews would offer Default, Satellite and Terrain layers
• A real-time traffic overlay is also in the works
• Users could check maps and delays without leaving the chat
• No release timeline has been announced
