Lunar Outpost shows off LTR rover for a future Moon base
Lunar Outpost has demonstrated its Lunar Terrain Vehicle, one of two designs NASA is moving forward with alongside Astrolab's. The rover tops out at 11.6 mph, uses an electric current to keep abrasive dust out of the cab and rides on wire-mesh tires built for −200 to 200 °C swings.
- Top speed of the LTR is 11.6 mph (about 18.7 km/h)
- An electric current pulls lunar dust under the truck, away from the cab
- Wire-mesh tires are built for −200 to 200 °C temperature swings
- A robotic arm collects samples when no crew is aboard
