Microsoft Quietly Kills Windows 11's Easiest Local Account Bypass
Microsoft has closed a simple workaround that let Windows 11 users skip the mandatory Microsoft account sign-in during setup: clicking the "Learn more" link no longer redirects to local account creation. The change, spotted by enthusiast Bob Pony on October 9, was confirmed on a fresh Windows 11 26H2 ISO and appears to be server-side.
- The bypass used the "Learn more" link on the Microsoft account sign-in screen
- The link now opens the "See how your data is managed" page with a Back button
- The fix was applied server-side, without a system patch
- Alternatives remain: domain join in Pro, Rufus media, switching accounts in Settings
