Microsoft to Scale Azure Maia to Multi-Gigawatt Deployments in 2027

Microsoft said it will scale its in-house Azure Maia AI silicon to multi-gigawatt deployments starting next calendar year, making it the primary inference system for its own products and services. The company introduced Maia 300, claiming 40% more tokens per watt than leading GPU-based systems, with a multi-chiplet design on TSMC's N2P node. Maia 200 is already deployed across the US, Europe and Australia, delivering up to 1.7x more tokens per watt.
