Elsight launches GPS-free drone positioning using cellular signals
Texas-based Elsight introduced a positioning technology that lets uncrewed systems determine location without GPS by using cellular network signals and Timing Advance measurements. A multi-source fusion engine combines cellular data, verified GPS, and motion inputs, with built-in GPS spoofing detection. The feature is available to existing Halo platform customers via a software unlock.
- Positioning works without GPS, internet access, or visual references
- Uses Timing Advance and nearby cellular base station signals
- Built-in GPS spoofing detection flags coordinate mismatches
- Available to existing Halo customers via software, no extra hardware
