Eplus3D and Young-Will Aerospace Validate Crack-Free Copper-Nickel LPBF for Aerospace
Chinese 3D printer manufacturer Eplus3D and Young-Will Aerospace have validated crack-free laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) of copper-nickel alloy parts. Tensile strength reached 570 MPa, 18% higher than conventional forging. Validation was performed on the EP-M400 system with a 400×400×450 mm chamber and up to six lasers.
- Part strength reached 570 MPa, 18% higher than forged equivalent
- Printed on EP-M400 with 400×400×450 mm chamber and up to 6 lasers
- Maximum build rate is 210 cm³/h
- Target parts: fuel lines, hydraulics, combustion chambers, rocket engine components
