NHTSA To Rewrite Vehicle Lighting Rules To Address Headlight Glare
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it will rewrite its vehicle lighting standards to address headlight glare and allow newer safety-improving lighting technologies. The agency plans to update rules for LEDs, dusk sensors, automatic high beams and replaceable light sources, and will evaluate headlamp height and aim. Federal brightness standards have not changed since 1997.
