Developer recreates 7 Adobe apps in Rust for free — hands-on test reveals flaws

A 15-year industry veteran used Opus 5.5 to recreate Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, After Effects and InDesign in pure native Rust as the free cross-platform ArtCraft suite. A TechRadar hands-on test found PhotoCraft cannot read HEIC, is not optimized for Mac and saves projects only as JPG.

• ArtCraft offers 7 free apps: PhotoCraft, LightCraft, VectorCraft, DesignCraft, FilmCraft, EffectCraft and PrintCraft
• PhotoCraft is 80 MB versus Photoshop's 6.4 GB; FilmCraft is 90 MB versus Premiere Pro's 6.8 GB
• PhotoCraft does not support HEIC and saves projects only as JPG with no format choice
• The apps run on Windows, macOS, Linux and in web-based versions
