Home Assistant 2026.10 improves automation editor, maps and MCP
The stable Home Assistant 2026.10 release is out. It focuses on fixing everyday friction rather than adding major features: a reworked automation editor with a "Triggered by" condition, vector maps based on OpenStreetMap data, and a Model Context Protocol card for connecting AI tools.
- Automation editor adds a "Triggered by" condition showing thresholds and durations inline
- Maps now use vector OpenStreetMap data with photo markers and People, Devices, Zones tabs
- Connecting AI tools is simplified via a Model Context Protocol card under Settings > System
- Dashboard cards can be shown or hidden by conditions like "only after sunset" or "only on my phone"
