AMD's EPYC Verano AI host CPU to use dedicated SB1 socket
AMD's EPYC 9006-series 'Verano' CPUs for AI servers will use a new SB1 socket instead of SP7 or SP8, according to server cooler maker Dynatron. The chip will pack up to 72 Zen 6 cores at up to 5 GHz and a 24-channel LPDDR5X memory subsystem with replaceable SOCAMM2 modules. Launch is planned for the second half of 2027.
