Windows Search preview learns to run commands

Microsoft is rolling out a new Windows Search preview with a tidier, faster results list and an Actions feature that executes commands like "mute" or "minimise all my windows" directly from the search box. The English-only preview is gradually reaching Windows Insiders in the Experimental channel.

• Search is built on WinUI 3, with Microsoft claiming substantial gains in performance and memory usage
• Actions runs commands: typing "mute" silences audio, "minimise all my windows" triggers Show Desktop
• Typo and synonym handling improved, though "turn on" and "switch on" still confuse the preview
• Inline previews and richer file details are promised later this year
