Linux Foundation launches OpenGrid to modernise power grids
The Linux Foundation unveiled OpenGrid, an open source platform to modernise energy grids and promote shared grid technology standards. The initiative launched at the Open Source Summit Europe in Prague with backing from Breakthrough Energy, Connected Grid Initiative and Google.org. Data centres use about 1.5% of global electricity, with demand set to double to 945 TWh by 2030, per the IEA.
