Cisco unveils Quantum Network Controller and Entanglement-as-a-Service model

Cisco introduced a prototype Quantum Network Controller, a control layer for distributed quantum networks that coordinates quantum computers, memories and switches over a shared fabric. The Entanglement-as-a-Service model lets applications request entanglement by parameters without knowing the physical implementation.

• Controller coordinates sources, switches, detectors and timing systems via a HAL
• EaaS model delivers entanglement on demand with specified rate, fidelity and timing
• Connecting 1,000 quantum nodes point-to-point takes nearly 500,000 dedicated links
• Uses the Universal Quantum Switch to link IBM, IonQ, Google and Rigetti systems
