Claude Code mods: plugins draw panels and intercept tool calls

Claude Code mods are plugins made of JavaScript or TypeScript functions that run inside Claude Code, drawing custom panels, redrawing the UI and intercepting tool calls. Drawn UI appears only in the terminal claude and the Code tab of the desktop app, where mods work from version 2.1.286.

• Mods draw panes, a band above the prompt, status line and toasts
• They intercept tool calls and requests, and can stop a dangerous command
• Terminal requires 2.1.287+, desktop app works from 2.1.286
• Mod panels do not appear in VS Code, mobile app or claude.ai
