ESA's Juice skims Earth's atmosphere on its way to Jupiter
On September 28, ESA's Juice spacecraft passed just 8,640 km above the Indian Ocean, changing its course by 20° and gaining 3.5 km/s. The gravity assist saved propellant for 35 flybys of Ganymede, Europa and Callisto after reaching Jupiter in 2031.
