Windows 11 File Explorer adds ~ shortcut to jump to user folders

Windows 11's File Explorer is adding support for the tilde key: typing ~\AppData opens the user profile, Documents, Downloads and AppData folders without the full path. The feature is in preview builds and will roll out to everyone in the coming weeks.

• Typing ~\AppData replaces the full C:\Users\username\AppData path
• Feature is in preview builds, broad rollout expected in weeks
• Explorer will remember sorting and icon size across access methods
• Search from This PC is now indexer-based and faster, matching Home
