Global EV Sales in August: Plug-in Share Reaches 27%
Global plug-in vehicle registrations rose 5% year over year in August to about 1.8 million units. BEVs accounted for 20% share, rising to 27% with PHEVs, while the 2026 EV share stands at 24%. The Tesla Model Y stayed on top, but the Geely Xingyuan hit a record 52,058 units to take second place ahead of the BYD Song.
