Norway's New Car Market Hit 98.7% Electric in August

Norway registered 13,451 new passenger cars in August 2026, 98.7% of them battery-electric — the highest monthly share on record. Volkswagen led brands with 1,457 registrations (10.8%), Toyota followed with 1,328 (9.9%), while Xpeng and BYD doubled their combined share from 4.9% to 11.4%.
