TypeScript 7 drops legacy tsconfig options: what breaks
TypeScript 6.0 (March 2026) changed a batch of defaults and deprecated legacy options, and the Go-native TypeScript 7.0 (GA in July) removed them outright. The audit: types now defaults to [], rootDir is the tsconfig directory, strict is on, and baseUrl, moduleResolution: node and target: es5 are gone.
- types defaults to []: process and describe need explicit listing
- rootDir now defaults to the tsconfig directory, moving output to dist/src/
- strict, module: esnext and noUncheckedSideEffectImports are on by default
- TS 7.0 removes baseUrl, moduleResolution: node/classic and target: es5
