Meta: Technical Error Wrongly Suspended Malaysian WhatsApp Accounts

Meta acknowledged that a technical error caused legitimate WhatsApp activity in Malaysia to be misidentified as violations, affecting more than half of the cases in the first batch submitted by regulator MCMC. The issue was fixed in late September and affected accounts were restored. MCMC is pressing Meta to improve its appeal process.
