Cloudflare opens closed beta of Monetization Gateway with HTTP 402 payments

On September 30, 2026, Cloudflare moved its Monetization Gateway from waitlist to closed beta. The gateway uses HTTP 402 and the x402 protocol, verifying and settling through Coinbase's x402 Facilitator in USDC on Base; named users include Cloudflare AI Gateway, Ceramic.ai, Stocktwits and API2PDF. The roadmap promises to help sellers make their services discoverable to AI agents.
