Borderless Gaming adds DLSS 5 effect without Nvidia software, runs on RTX 3090
Borderless Gaming now offers a DLSS 5 Neural Rendering effect and Frame Generation that bypass Nvidia's DLLs, running the model through BGFX at the compositor level. Author Andrew Sampson says the quantized model works on a wider range of GPUs, with an RTX 3090 targeting around 30 FPS.
- The DLSS 5 NR effect ships as a single shader file on GitHub, not inside the update
- The model was trained on tens of thousands of hours of gameplay and needs no game mods
- An RTX 3090 can target around 30 FPS depending on game and settings
- Adjustable strength, lighting, structure, style and processing resolution are exposed
