Kioxia Joins Applied Materials' EPIC Center, Completing All Four Memory Makers

Applied Materials added Kioxia to its EPIC Center coalition on September 29, completing the first gathering of all four major memory makers — Samsung, SK hynix, Micron and Kioxia — under one R&D roof in Sunnyvale. The partnership targets z-pitch scaling in 3D NAND toward 500–1000 layers.

• Kioxia is the fourth member of the EPIC Center after Samsung, SK hynix and Micron
• Current BiCS10 generation reaches 332 layers with z-pitch around 40nm
• Goal is new dielectrics and metals for 500–1000-layer NAND
