Eclipse Foundation launches Sovereign AI Foundation to fight vendor lock-in

The Eclipse Foundation announced the Sovereign AI Foundation, a vendor-neutral initiative to help organizations manage AI platform lock-in, cyber risk and data control. It launches with 17 founding members, including Red Hat, Ericsson, Bosch, Thales, Infosys and KU Leuven.

• 17 founding organizations from Europe, the US, India and Japan
• Goal is to cut the cost of switching AI providers and keep data control
• Five focus areas: use cases, tech assessment, resources, community, research
• The initiative has been active on Eclipse's project site since July
