XGS Energy to drill deep well in New Mexico for water-free geothermal power

The U.S. Department of Energy selected Houston-based XGS Energy for federal funding under a $99 million program covering 21 geothermal projects. XGS will drill an appraisal well in New Mexico with Baker Hughes, New Mexico Tech and Sandia National Laboratories to gather subsurface data for its closed-loop, water-free geothermal system.
