Google-backed Fervo Energy achieves first power at Cape Station geothermal plant in Utah

Fervo Energy has achieved first power at its Cape Station geothermal project in Beaver County, Utah, the first utility-scale enhanced geothermal project to do so. The first 33MW GeoBlock is online, with the remaining two expected to reach commercial operations in January 2027. At full capacity the project is expected to produce around 900MW, with Google contracted for 396MW.
