Excel breaks its oldest rule: multiple values in one cell

Microsoft is testing Excel support for lists, in-cell arrays and nested arrays, departing from the long-standing one-cell, one-value model. The feature is opt-in for Microsoft 365 Insiders in the Excel Beta Channel on Windows and Mac.

• Lists are created via Insert > List or Ctrl+J, with items separated by commas or semicolons
• Formulas like ={1;2;3} can now stay in one cell when wrapped in braces
• Four new functions added: FLATTEN, HAS, HASANY and HASALL
• Requires Excel for Windows Version 2610, Build 20520.20000 or later
