Apple Intelligence becomes a mandatory update in macOS 27

In macOS 27 Golden Gate, Apple Intelligence and Siri AI models download automatically once the device connects to a network, and they cannot be disabled. The models take about 14GB of storage, or up to 30GB on some Mac configurations, and require an M3 chip or newer with 12GB of unified memory.
