Microsoft retires legacy Azure Service Bus clients on September 30, 2026

On September 30, 2026, Microsoft retires the WindowsAzure.ServiceBus and Microsoft.Azure.ServiceBus libraries for .NET, plus com.microsoft.azure.servicebus for Java, and ends support for the SBMP protocol. The replacement is Azure.Messaging.ServiceBus, available since November 2020.

• WindowsAzure.ServiceBus uses SBMP by default and will stop connecting after September 30, 2026
• Microsoft.Azure.ServiceBus keeps working over AMQP but gets no updates or security fixes
• Replacement is Azure.Messaging.ServiceBus with a single ServiceBusClient entry point, available since November 2020
• WindowsAzure.ServiceBus remains supported for Azure WCF Relay
