6G brings AI into the network, from RAN to core
6G is being designed with AI embedded in the radio access network and core, letting the network predict demand peaks and manage radio resources in real time. 3GPP's Release 20 studies are due by 2027, the first normative 6G specs come in Release 21 with a protocol freeze in March 2029, and commercial systems are expected around 2030.
