Oracle JDK 21 goes paid on October 20

On October 20, 2026, Oracle's 21.0.13 patch will be the first JDK 21 release under the paid Java SE OTN license. Free alternatives include Eclipse Temurin 21 (through December 2029) and Amazon Corretto 21 (through October 2030), or upgrading to Oracle JDK 25.
