New California Laws Ease EV Charger Installation Rules

Governor Gavin Newsom signed a package of laws on September 20 that simplifies the installation and activation of EV chargers in California. SB 969 speeds up inspections for chargers already tested by manufacturers, SB 1283 extends streamlined permitting to trenching, electrical upgrades and battery storage, and AB 1820 cuts barriers for chargers at apartments and mixed-use developments.
