Volkswagen sells more EVs than petrol cars in Germany, builds them in Spain

Volkswagen is now taking more orders for electric cars than for petrol and diesel models in Germany, its home market. The four budget EVs driving the shift have taken about 100,000 orders combined and are all built in Spain, while planned extra shifts at Wolfsburg were cancelled.

• ID Polo has over 40,000 orders; Cupra Raval, Skoda Epiq and ID Cross add ~60,000
• All four models are built in Spain rather than Germany
• Wolfsburg cancelled extra shifts as Emden and Zwickau raise output
• ID Polo is expected to start at around €25,000
