ZoomEye scans from 20 September 2026 found 414,092 internet-reachable VMware ESXi hosts and 140,746 Proxmox VE hosts, while app="vSphere" returned 12,354. Exposed hypervisor management interfaces allow creating, altering and deleting every VM on a host.
