Corsica solar plant adds 150-kW electrolyzer to turn surplus power into hydrogen

Corsica Sole inaugurated a 150-kW electrolyzer facility, called Folell’Hy, at its 12-MW Folelli solar plant on the French island of Corsica on September 17. The pilot produces up to 20 kg of hydrogen a day from surplus solar power, stores up to 230 kg at 300 and 500 bar, and will supply a hydrogen-powered training vessel.

• The 150-kW electrolyzer produces 30 Nm³/h, or about 20 kg of hydrogen per day
• On-site storage holds up to 230 kg of hydrogen at 300 and 500 bar
• The 12-MW Folelli plant generates around 18 GWh of electricity a year
• The Alchymiste project has a €4.9 million budget, including €1.7 million in public funding
