HKU unveils Gungnir, a blockchain-inspired DNA storage codec
A team at the University of Hong Kong led by Ruibang Luo and Can Li has developed Gungnir, a blockchain-inspired codec for DNA data storage. It recovers digital information from severely damaged DNA sequences and could extend the practical lifespan of DNA archives from under a decade to centuries. The paper appears in Nature Communications.
