LRO finds new 728-foot crater on the Moon

NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter discovered a new 728-foot-wide crater, McGetchin, on the Moon's near side about 330 km from the edge of Mare Crisium, likely formed by a bolide impact in spring 2024. It is the largest new crater found by LROC since 2009, far exceeding the previous record of about 70 meters.
