India makes Aadhaar biometrics mandatory for LPG subsidies

From October 1, biometric Aadhaar authentication became mandatory for previously registered beneficiaries of subsidized household LPG in India. More than 274 million recipients (about 90%) have already completed authentication; others will lose the subsidy without it.
